When the first racing games came out in the arcade era, it was very simple 2d games where you only go forward and right and left and that is it ,when it came to the retro consoles it was one of the most successful games genres ever, because children would watch cars in movies and imitate them in the video games, but the lack of movements and poor graphics didn’t help with the full satisfaction of the genre.
Development of the genre
When the 90's kicked in there was a very important leveling up in the racing games mechanics, when the 3d technology had came into light and developed the experience with new prospective and new angles, which provided a whole new experience with the racing games .
The modern day applications of the genre
In the period between the 90's until now there have been some huge leaps in the graphic and gameplay aspects, when the most successful racing games had started which was the need for speed games,because the development in gaming mechanics with the cars and surroundings and cars customization which played a huge roll in the success of the series.
The future of the genre

-Any one can learn alot about driving and develop the sense of distances through racing simulators.
-Could be a good way to learn about cars and it is parts.
-Could develop competitive skills with friends in the multiplayers modes.
-Winning a race against a strong opponent will require strategizing which will motivate the mind to build and test new strategies and build the ability of strategizing.
-Could be a safe way to put the need to drive and control and the need for speed in a safe environment instead of fulfilling this need in realty in the street.
Negatives of the genre
-Could make the need for speed in more than the game and put it on the streets.
-Could consume a lot of time if there is not a good time management system applied.
-Could encourage some hyperactive actions if the user is not wise about understanding the nature of the genre.
